- Tulip Festival is coming! And I am on the Tulip Court costume committee, which means I've been busy with fittings and alterations for the Court's escorts and pages.
- I'm also sewing Dutch costumes for Ethan and I with the help of my mom and grandmas (Thanks!). Ethan is going to be singing with Fietsen Zangers (Dutch bicycle singers), and I will be chaperoning the Tulip Court, so we both need costumes this year!
- The college school year is wrapping up, and so I'm also wrapping things up in the costume studio. There are lots of student projects, picnics, and other end-of-the-year celebrations happening!
- I'm looking for a summer job. I've been hoping to work at Blue Mountain again, but with the recent fire, I'm not sure when they'll be open.
- Next week is the week before Mother's Day! Which means I'll be helping out at the florist for the week.
- We are preparing for Jacen's preschool registration. We went to an open house this week, and it was fun to see a lot of the families that we will be interacting with throughout Jacen's school years.
- Ethan has been busy with the Orange City Young Professionals Group. He's serving on their civic committee and service committee, and is involved in many of their activities. Today they are cleaning up the park and serving hamburgers afterward.
- Ethan also celebrated the 1 year anniversary of his business! We celebrated by treating our families to a dinner at Texas Roadhouse.

A little busy right now...
So I haven't been posting as much as I want to, but I'd thought I'd pop in and let you all know what we've got going right now.

Games for Kids that won't Bore Parents to Death
Lately Jacen is totally into board games. Now, I know I'm not the only parent who goes cross eyed after the fifth game in a row of Candy Land. And I'm always looking for suggestions, so here's a couple games I've found that I can play with Jacen without going crazy.
Kids of Catan: This one is definitely a favorite right now. Based on the adult game Settlers of Catan, players collect resources to build buildings in the town. The first one to build all of their buildings wins.
Veggie Tales Seek and Match: Your basic kids board game with a little bit of a twist. As you go around the board, you get to flip over tiles, looking for the ones that match the pictures on your character card.
Yahtzee: Ok, so we don't play the full rules of this game yet, but rolling the dice to get the numbers that match in set or sequence will keep Jacen busy for hours. When I play with him, we see how many of the combinations on the score card he can get.
Speedy Delivery: We got this one from the library, but I would go out and buy it if I could find it, because it is a good one! Players drive trucks through a city scape board picking up packages, but some bridges are not high enough to fit all your boxes, so you have to find the route to get all your boxes safely out of the maze.
Enjoy! And please send any other fun game suggestions my way!
(Note: All of these games are available through Amazon!)
